This article is for V2 and V1 3D scanners.
Sometimes, your meshed scans will appear wrinkled, or show vertical lines, or look similar to the surface of an orange.
This can happen when the mesh detail level is set too high.
The "right" mesh level for each scan will differ, depending on the density of the point clouds, the number of point clouds being meshed, and how well they align. Scans with excellent alignment and dense point clouds will mesh at higher detail levels without creating the wrinkled surface textures. That said, a mesh at detail level 7 or 8 can give the perfect result for smooth surfaces.
A good rule of thumb is to do a mesh at detail level 8 (the center point in the slider in MFStudio). Then, try a mesh at level 9, and level 7, to compare results, and adjust further as necessary.
Wrinkled Mesh
Detail level: 10
Note the orange peel-like surface.
Smooth Mesh
Detail level: 7
While lacking crisp edges, this mesh is smoother.
