Old But Not Forgotten
This article is for users of the V1 (black and white) scanner ONLY.
All V2 scanners have the most up-to-date firmware installed and should NOT attempt a firmware update.
If you haven't scanned in a while, you may have old firmware on your scanner. The current version of MFStudio does not currently have the ability to update old firmware and will not work until the firmware is updated. But fear not, there is a simple solution!
Windows Users:
Likely you are here because you saw this screen in MFStudio. This screen lets you know your firmware is out of date. Here's how to update the firmware on Windows. Please note MFStudio is only available for 64-bit machines. The download link below is for 64-bit machines only.
Step 1:
Close MFStudio entirely. Running MFStudio while the firmware is being updated could cause your scanner to become corrupted.
Step 2:
Plug you scanner directly into your computer. Do not use any USB hubs. Make sure the scanner is plugged in and turned on.
Step 3:
Download and install the most recent OLD software. You can find it by clicking one of these links.
Step 4:
Run "Matter and Form Scanner" (The old software). You can find this in your start menu, or by pressing the windows key and typing "Matter and Form"
Step 5:
The software will detect the scanner, and update the firmware in the background. You will see a message at the bottom of the window while this process is happening "Scanner detected. Connecting...".
Step 6:
After the firmware is successfully installed, the software may ask you to calibrate. This means the scanner is updated and connected correctly. Just click cancel, and close "Matter and Form Scanner"
Step 7:
Close "Matter and Form Scanner" entirely, and run MFStudio. MFStudio will connect to the scanner. Before you scan you will need to calibrate in MFStudio.
