This article is for V2 and V1 3D scanners.
Calibration is very important to getting the best results out of your scanner. From time-to-time or with brand new scanners, MFStudio will remind you when it's time to calibrate, but you can calibrate whenever you need to by selecting Calibrate from the File menu.
Click to select the calibration device, card or box, that came with your scanner. Follow the instructions to assemble the card, if needed.
Follow the instructions for Calibration Steps 1 and 2 in the software to calibrate you scanner.
Note! If you have a Box calibration device, on Step 1 place the box so the face with the check board is directly on top of the center of the scan bed. On Step 2, move the box forward by 1 cm (1/2 inch).
The scanner turntable will rotate left and right, firing its lasers and collecting a range of data. Be patient and do not move the calibration card or scanner.
For Step 2, move the calibration box/card forward towards the camera 1 cm/ half an inch. Step 2 will take slightly longer than Step 1 as the software compares the data between Step 1 and Step 2.
If a step in calibration takes longer than 15 minutes, stop the calibration. Read through this article on troubleshooting calibration and try again. If you need help please contact us using the "Submit a request" link at the top of this page, or email us at support@matterandform.net. Please include your MFStudio log file when contacting support.
Make sure to calibrate your scanner when it gets moved or your lighting changes drastically. The turntable can shift when moved, causing the scanner to scan incorrectly.
